Capacity building programmes
The Centre for Citizen Science & Biodiversity Informatics conducts regular capacity building programmes for the citizen science practitioners and citizen scientists in the following area. Check our events / social media pages for the notification of upcoming programmes.
Basics of Citizen science
The Basics of Citizen Science training program is designed to equip the participants with the knowledge and skills to participate in the Citizen Science Movement. The fundamentals of citizen science include the importance of citizen science, data collection platforms, project design, management, and outreach methods. You will also learn about the different types of projects, basic data collection techniques, software and open access data sources. Our team will guide you through the process and provide valuable tips and insights to help you make the most of your citizen science experience.
Taxonomy Workshops
In biodiversity monitoring programmes, identification of the species involved is an important issue. We at the Kerala Forest Research Institute, regularly conduct hands-on workshops to equip young conservationists and enthusiasts with proper species identification skills. With expert guidance, you'll learn how to identify selected taxonomic groups and also critically examine crowdsourced data available on open access platforms. These workshops provide the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on training in taxonomy and develop your skills. Read about our recent taxonomy workshop on bats.
Data management, analysis and visualisation
To ensure the success of your citizen science project and for using the citizen science data for answering a research question, it's important to have a clear understanding of data management, analysis, visualization and interpretation. Stay tuned for our future training programmes to learn the essential steps for data management, analysis and visualization to produce the best output from your citizen science journey!
