Monsoon Croaks 2023-A Frog Mapping Initiative in Kerala!

June 5th - September 2nd

Introducing the Monsoon Croaks, a Frog Mapping Initiative in Kerala! Are you passionate about conservation and intrigued by the vibrant world of amphibians? Join us in our mission to protect and preserve the frog species in Kerala during the monsoon season. The Monsoon Croaks is a community-driven project aimed at documenting and studying the diverse frog population in the region. It is a three month long program starting from June 5th and ends on September 2nd. By actively participating in this initiative, you can contribute valuable data that will help researchers, scientists, and conservationists make informed decisions to safeguard these fascinating creatures. Why focus on frogs during the monsoon season? The monsoon is a critical period for frogs as they emerge from their hiding places to breed and lay eggs. It is a time when their calls resonate in the air, creating a symphony of nature. However, frogs face numerous threats, including habitat loss, pollution, and climate change. By monitoring their populations and understanding their distribution, we can better protect their habitats and ensure their survival.

As a volunteer frog mapper, You will learn to identify different frog species, document their calls, note their behavior, and record important ecological data. Your observations will contribute to the creation of comprehensive databases that will aid ongoing research and conservation efforts. All you have to do is observe your surroundings, click photos or record calls of frogs and upload it to the iNaturalist platform. Not only will you have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on amphibian conservation, but you will also gain knowledge about the unique ecology of frogs and their vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. So, come be a part of the Monsoon Croaks and embark on an exciting journey to save our frogs. Together, let's protect their habitats, raise awareness about their importance, and ensure a future where frogs thrive in harmony with their environment. Join us today and make a difference for our amphibian friends!
